She delivered what she promised and walked us through the process from choosing paint colors, cabinet finishes, countertops and appliances. I highly recommend her for any design job! 

Kimberly did an exceptional job on the remodel of our kitchen. She was extremely professional and listened to our goals. After our initial consultation, Kimberly created three designs that were all very creative. During the process of many changes to our favorite design, Kimberly was always helpful and timely. She is a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We could not be happier with our remodel and would highly recommend her!

Our new home was nestled on a lot that featured trees, a creek and rolling expanses of green grass, thanks to its location on a golf course. Unfortunately, this landscape was barely visible from the main living area in its oddly configured interior. The kitchen sink faced a neighbor’s garage wall and driveway; there were too many walls, too many doors, and way too much honey oak for our contemporary tastes. It didn’t take long to compile a long list of things we wanted to take apart — but how to put it all back together?

This was not our first foray into home construction and remodeling. As we considered how to make the necessary changes — to what we vowed would be our very last house project, ever! — We happened upon Kimberly Kerl’s Kustom Home Design profile on Houzz.

We count our blessings Every Single Day as we live in our newly revamped kitchen, living and dining room along with the reconfigured master bath. The dark, maze-like spaces now flow comfortably — and beautifully.

While at first we considered hiring a designer for space planning only, we soon realized we could not achieve our goals without the benefit of Kimberly’s expertise in other areas as well. A keen listener with a meticulous eye for detail, she provided complete lighting and electrical plans, pointed us to vendors and products we might not have otherwise considered, and led us to a contractor who was just the right fit for this project. And she was always just a phone call, text or email away when we encountered the occasional “bump in the road” during construction. Her charges were always fair and she respected our budget — probably more consistently than we ourselves did.

Kimberly’s kitchen design was totally on point. We could not imagine how we could remove two walls, replace a range with a larger cooktop and two wall ovens, and still have adequate storage and counter space. Kimberly gave us a huge, functional island chock-full of storage, and, best of all, a separate landing spot for keys, phones, and mail that was NOT on the island (a pet peeve of this cook). The custom furniture maker who built our cabinets said Kimberly’s drawings were unmatched by any designer he had ever worked with; they were extremely precise and easy to understand.

The view from the kitchen sink now includes our modern new fireplace/TV display wall and the great green outdoors we could never see before.

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Kimberly. Not only is she the consummate, unflappable professional, she is truly a nice person. IF we were to ever need a designer again — which we won’t, because this really is our very last house project, ever! — Kimberly would be the first person we’d call. We recommend Kustom Home Design without reservation. 

I hired Kimberly at Kustom Home Design to create plans for a complete lake home renovation. I was at a loss to develop a workable floor plan for my small home and Kimberly was able to work through my needs and provide a design that suited my lifestyle and maximize the space in my home. We hired Kimberly to design our home from the recommendation of a friend in the building business. My husband and I were hesitant because of our limited knowledge with the ’design & build’ process. Kimberly Kerl was a lifesaver in our home project. We had no clue how to begin our new kitchen space to maximize storage and include everything on our “must have” list. This kitchen also has a cathedral ceiling. Kimberly came in and designed the space that was above and beyond our expectations! She also designed gorgeous curved beams in the ceiling that is a showstopper! She is awesome!! 

Kustom Home Designs was invaluable to us during our kitchen renovation. Kim was able to help us work through design challenges like moving the cooktop off of the island and replacing a door to the porch. She not only designed a kitchen that is super functional, she helped us make it gorgeous, with things like the tall window over the sink, the beautiful backsplash and the absolutely fabulous countertops. We plan to do more remodel projects and I would not consider doing them without the help of Kustom Home Designs.

Kimberly recently designed our dream house for us. We had an idea in our heads and she brought it to life. Kimberly met with us at our building site, listened carefully as we described what we wanted, and took copious notes. She came back to us soon after with several designs. Kimberly again listened to what we liked and what we didn’t and and made the changes we requested. She also made some recommendations and suggestions that really helped make the design special. This was our first time building a custom house, and Kimberly made the design process smooth and enjoyable. Our builder was very impressed with her work, also. We had an excellent experience using Kustom Home Design. Kim is very professional, very knowledgeable and really maximized the use of our space in our recent kitchen and master bath renovation. She provided us with several layout options which really helped us visualize the space and decide what would work best for us. The bathroom turned out better than I could have imagined! Kimberly recently designed our master bath. She really listened to my vision and suggested details such as wainscoting and storage solutions that I never would have thought of. She redesigned the space to make it not only more functional, but also beautiful. We will enjoy our master bath for many years to come! Kimberly listened to our goals and we felt she understood our lifestyle & personal design style from our first visit. She gave helpful advice and guided us away from ideas which would soon be outdated or impractical. We wanted to make a few changes to the plans and she redid them very quickly and affordably…and she was VERY patient with us throughout the process! We had previously done a reno without a designer and it was a horrible experience. Kimberly gave us the confidence to go through another reno after that bad experience. I’m not sure I would’ve ever proceeded if I hadn’t hired her. I would never do another large project without consulting her first. I confidently recommend KHD! 

Kimberly designed an addition along with a renovation of the old part of our home. The project was fairly large in scope, but Kimberly helped keep it from feeling overwhelming by pacing the process. She responded to our questions timely and we are very pleased with the drawings and current renovation. Our builder was also impressed with the detail of her work. It’s easy to see why she’s so successful at what she does, because she has the talent, professionalism and experience to do an excellent job for her clients. 

Our Master bath, was in serious need of help. From the hideous white tile, sunken tub, and fluorescent lighting. Kimberly was able to help us bring it into modern luxury with a spa like feel. We love our new bathroom! 

Our basement definitely needed an update. From a new wall to new lighting. Kimberly came up with fantastic ideas on how to give our basement the design we had in our minds but couldn’t articulate. She worked with us on our schedule and was always willing to come back when we had more questions. The colors she picked out look amazing. The contractor worked directly from her designs and everything turned out wonderful! 

We chose Kimberly to do the design of a remodel of our kitchen and master suite in our home. This remodel included moving walls, moving doors, laying out a large kitchen and large bathroom while minimizing construction costs. Kimberly is up with modern layout design and functionality and had great ideas. She gave us 3 design ideas to choose from for the initial layout and then did a detailed, build-to design to follow that up. We were able to take it directly to the contractor for quotes.
